Sophros Recovery is a veteran-owned and operated business founded with a mission to support our service members, veterans, and their families. There is a need to provide behavioral health support for these men and women, but it is also part of our owner’s mission statement. Nick Padlo is a combat veteran of both Afghanistan and Iraq who understands the challenges of recovering from war, transitioning out of the military, and dealing with mental health challenges and addiction. Sophros Recovery was formed in part with his journey in mind and the many Veteran friends that he has lost to mental health struggles, addiction, and suicide.
One of the best ways to be able to work with our service members is to become an approved provider for TRICARE. After diligently working for months to be accepted, we are pleased to report that we can now accept clients with TRICARE insurance coverage as one of the insurances we accept for our outpatient treatment, intensive outpatient program (IOP), and partial hospitalization program (PHP).
Like in war, we cannot leave our men and women behind once we return home. We must look out for one another in both war and at home. For many of us returning, we later fight our own battles against depression, anxiety, trauma/PTSD, and addiction. These battles are real, and there is no shame in seeking help. We are here to support you, and we got your 6.
What Is TRICARE?
TRICARE is a health program for uniformed service members and their families, National Guard and Armed Forces Reserve members and their families, survivors, former spouses, Medal of Honor recipients, and others registered in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS).
Types of beneficiaries include (benefits vary depending on category):
- Sponsors—active duty, retired, and Guard/Reserve members.
- Family members—spouses and children who are registered in DEERS.
Accessing TRICARE Benefits for Non-Emergency Care for Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders
For psychoanalysis or care from an institutional provider outside a military hospital or clinic, you must get a referral for non-emergency mental health and substance use disorder (SUD) care. If you are an active-duty servicemember (ADSM) seeking care in the TRICARE network, you must get a referral and pre-authorization.
